Tumwater: Founded in 1845, Tumwater was the first American settlement north of Fort Vancouver.

Waterpower from the Deschutes River for a brewery, mills and other industry were the main reasons for the town's prosperity during the early 1900's.

Tumwater is at the southern tip of Puget Sound and is in Thurston County. It is well known as the home of Olympia Beer, whose brewery is easily visible from Interstate 5.
