SOUTH BEND REAL ESTATE

City of South Bend Website

South Bend: The development of rich timberland established South Bend as the key point in the water and stagecoach transportation system of the Washington Territory in the late 1800's.

Determined not to relinquish the title of county seat of Pacific County to its rival town of Oysterville during an election dispute in 1892, South Bend citizens abruptly removed all books and records from the Oysterville courthouse. South Bend remains the county seat today. It is situated on Highway 101 on the eastern shores of Willapa Bay, not far from Raymond.

South Bend is the County Seat of Pacific County, and is located on Beautiful Willapa River. Our weather has no extremes, cold or hot, and is green year round. South Bend is the Oyster Capital of the West. As recreation and retirement become more and more vital, it is now being discovered as the gateway to the great Southwestern Washington recreational area. The parks, beaches, river and ocean fishing are all accessible from this growing hillside community, built like a Scandinavian fishing village on the hills overlooking the river and bay.
