This funky little neighborhood is the self-proclaimed "Center of the Universe." Here fun mixes with the artistic and eclectic, from coffee houses, to ethnic restaurants, to antique stores, to art galleries. You'll find such oddities as the infamous car-eating troll sculpture under the State Route 99 bridge, a Korean-built rocket, and a statue of Vladimir Lenin.

Besides the everyday quirks and jaunts, special community events include The Fremont Farmers Market, held every Sunday from spring until fall, as well as the Fremont Outdoor Cinema during summer months.

For a brisk walk, visit the Fremont Canal Park, which stretches nearly a mile along the Lake Washington Ship Canal near the Fremont Bridge.

Not to be forgotten is the Fremont Solstice Parade, held every year on the Saturday nearest to the Summer Solstice. The festival is the signature event of the Fremont Arts Council.

Adobe, creators of PhotoShop and other software titles, chose Fremont for its Seattle campus.

Housing styles in Fremont feature single-family houses, including some of the area's older houses. You'll find a few pre-1900 Victorian houses scattered about, as well as some early 1900's houses.
